Department of Statistics
Owing to the important role enacted by statistics in other sciences, especially the humanities, permission to establish the Department of Statistics in ATU was obtained in 1989, and in 1990 the Department started to admit undergraduate students. The Department then continued to develop by recruiting new faculty members and establishing undergraduate and diverse postgraduate programmes.
In 2013, the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences and Computer was officially established with the three Departments of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Since then, faculty members in the Statistics Department have always been helping other departments in teaching statistics, research affairs and dissertations, in addition to the academic and research tasks at their own department.
At present, there are nine faculty members (three full professors, foure associate professors, and two assistant professors) in the Department. In terms of research, Department of Statistics is one of the most active departments in the university. This department is growing and hopes to provide more growth and opportunities by attracting new and effective forces.
