Dean's Message

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the website of ATU Faculty of Statistics, Mathematics and Computing (SMC). This faculty is located in the largest university of humanities in Iran. The faculty has been educating students in statistics since the 1980s, when ATU was formally established. In 2013, the SMC faculty gained its independence as a faculty and now have active Programs in Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering as well as Data Science.

Although the faculty is relatively young, it is very active in international publications, particularly ISI research papers. The teaching groups have been sincerely trying to maintain the teaching and research activities of the faculty at an acceptable standard level in terms of providing teaching courses as well as research consultancy to the students and also help to have a calm and enjoyable environment.

We believe that one of the important approaches in the evolution of humanities is to create foundations, that are based on statistical models, logic and mathematical calculations, as well as computer algorithms. We hope that by providing stronger and better teaching and research to students as well as better service to other faculties, we can have an important role in Allameh Tabataba’i University, and especially the foundations of transformation as much as possible in other faculties.

Hassan Rashidi

Dean of Faculty
